CatBlock is a browser extension that displays a fullscreen image or GIF overlay when you visit websites on your personal blocklist. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is handled by the extension and how.

2. Data We Collect

CatBlock does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All data the extension handles stays entirely on your device:

Blocked sites list — stored locally via chrome.storage.sync, synced across your own Chrome profile only.
Custom images — stored locally via chrome.storage.local. If you upload an image file, it is converted to a base64 string and stored on your device. If you provide an image URL, only that URL string is stored.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect browsing history.
We do not collect personally identifiable information of any kind.
We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party telemetry.
We do not transmit any data to external servers.

4. Remote Resources

If no custom image is set, CatBlock loads a default GIF from media.tenor.com. This is a direct image request from your browser to Tenor's CDN — no data about you is sent to us. If you provide your own image URL, your browser will fetch that URL directly.

5. Permissions Explained

storage — used solely to save your blocklist and image preferences on your device.
<all_urls> (host permission) — required so the extension can check the current page URL against your blocklist. No page content is read, recorded, or transmitted.

6. Third Parties

CatBlock does not share data with any third party. The extension has no backend, no server, and no analytics integration.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published alongside the extension on the Chrome Web Store. The effective date at the top will be updated accordingly.
